Amazon Switches to Recyclable Cardboard Envelopes and Paper Bags for Orders Shipped from their European Fulfilment Centres

Amazon replaced single-use plastic delivery bags and envelopes with a more sustainable packaging approach. Amazon’s European distribution network will now use recyclable paper bags and cardboard envelopes for all items sold, including third-party selling partners using Fulfilment by Amazon.

The flexible cardboard envelopes and paper bags guarantee Amazon customers more recyclable materials. Amazon also looks to increase the number of products shipped in their original packaging, and they’ll only add an address label.

The move from cardboard boxes to desirable flexible bags shows Amazon’s improvement toward sustainable packaging. It would help to know the few instances customers in Europe will receive products in plastic packaging.
